Communicators Making Process (CMP)

The Los Angeles Bulk Mail Center has gone through a transition as I know many facilities around the country but we are back and ready to work. Since October 11, 2008, we reduced our tours from three down to two tours. Even though we reduced our circles down from 10 circles to 8 circles we did not lose any members just beef up some circles. The members are in rare form and ready to work to make their working life better here at the BMC. Here are the circles working hard to make this process work.

I am Jessiezell Smith, Craft Coordinator at the LABMC for the last year. I am going on 31 years with the Postal Service. I have been involved with the QWL Process for over 20 years. I started out as a Circle member back in 1989, then in 1991. I became the full time Facilitator for our process. In 1996, I was detailed as the Manager Coordinator until in 2002, where I was replaced by a certified Supervisor. I was placed back on the workroom floor and I became a circle member on the Decision Makers Circle, Tour 2.

In the year 2006, I was asked to detail back to QWL as acting QWL Coordinator. In 2007, I was awarded the position as the Craft Coordinator. We have had hindered from Management but we will overcome them, looking forward to when I get a manager partner to work with. Future plans are to extend our Process by adding more circles. We plan to do Orientation for about 180 employees and circle trainings for 2009.

Congratulations to Raymond Paniagua, newly elected Branch President of the LABMC and new Craft Co-Chair of the LJSC. He is ready and willing to work to make this Process work for us at the LABMC, so I am looking for great things to happen here in the year 2009.

Congratulations to Monez Bassard, my pass partner on her Retirement from the Postal Service, she will truly be missed.

Tour 2 – Strike Force Circle – Break areas protection rail.

Tour 2 – Communicators Making Progress Circle (CMP) – Manual Platform Dumpers on SPBS.

Tour 2 – Decision Makers Circle – Dumbwaiter (Elevator dumper warning lights).

Tour 2 – A+ Quality Masters Circle – Forklift Modification: Plastic sleeves on forklift blades.
